API Inspector Pro Privacy Policy
API Inspector Pro ("the Extension") is designed with a privacy-first approach. This Privacy Policy explains how the Extension handles information when you use it.
Overview
API Inspector Pro helps developers inspect, analyze, debug, and export API requests directly within their browser.
The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share your API data with the developer.
All captured data remains on your device unless you explicitly choose to send data to a third-party AI provider for analysis.
Information We Collect
We Do Not Collect
The developer does not collect:
Personal information
Names
Email addresses
Passwords
Authentication tokens
API keys
Request payloads
Response payloads
Browsing history
Usage analytics
Crash reports
Telemetry data
No captured network traffic is transmitted to the developer's servers.
Local Data Storage
To provide its functionality, API Inspector Pro may store data locally on your device using browser storage technologies such as:
IndexedDB
Chrome Storage APIs
Locally stored data may include:
Captured API requests
Request history
Collections
Saved filters
Environment configurations
User preferences
Export settings
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it or submit it to a third-party AI provider.
The developer has no access to locally stored data.
API Request Inspection
The Extension may access network requests and responses in order to provide features such as:
Request inspection
Header viewing
Response viewing
JWT decoding
API debugging
Request replay
Export generation
All processing is performed locally within your browser whenever possible.
Authentication Tokens
The Extension may display authentication information that is already present in network requests, including:
Bearer tokens
JWT tokens
OAuth tokens
API keys
This information is displayed solely to the user for debugging purposes.
The Extension does not transmit, collect, or store this information outside of the user's browser.
AI Features
AI-powered features are optional and disabled by default.
Examples include:
Error explanations
Request analysis
Performance recommendations
Security insights
Code generation
Documentation generation
User-Provided AI Providers
Users may optionally connect their own AI provider, including:
Anthropic Claude
OpenAI
Google Gemini
Other supported providers
When AI analysis is requested:
Data is sent directly to the selected provider.
The user supplies and controls their own API credentials.
The developer does not receive or store API keys.
The developer does not proxy AI requests through their own servers.
The developer cannot access submitted request or response data.
Users should review the privacy policies of their selected AI provider before using AI features.
Chrome Built-in AI
Where supported, API Inspector Pro may use browser-provided AI capabilities.
Use of such capabilities is governed by the browser vendor's privacy policies and settings.
Request Replay
If the user chooses to replay a request:
The request is sent directly to the original destination endpoint.
The developer is not involved in the request.
The developer does not receive copies of replayed requests.
Users are responsible for ensuring they have authorization to replay requests.
Export Features
The Extension may allow exporting data in formats such as:
cURL
Postman Collections
OpenAPI Specifications
JSON
HAR Files
All exports are generated locally on the user's device.
Data Sharing
API Inspector Pro does not:
Sell user data
Share user data with advertisers
Share user data with data brokers
Transfer user data to developer-controlled servers
Use data for advertising
Use data for marketing purposes
Third-Party Services
The Extension does not include:
Analytics platforms
Advertising networks
Tracking technologies
User behavior monitoring
Crash reporting services
Telemetry services
Third-party services are used only when explicitly selected by the user for AI analysis.
Security
API Inspector Pro is designed to minimize data exposure by processing information locally whenever possible.
Because API traffic may contain sensitive information, users should exercise caution when sharing exports or submitting data to third-party AI providers.
Data Retention
All locally stored data remains under the user's control.
Users may delete data at any time by:
Clearing extension storage
Removing saved collections
Uninstalling the extension
Clearing browser data
Children's Privacy
API Inspector Pro is intended for developers and technical users and is not directed toward children under the age of 13.
